Rose Quartz Slab Table Set

While Rose Quartz is readily available, large pieces are not, and high quality is very rare. It has a tendency to fracture into small pieces. These rare pieces are from Brazil and have been finely polished.
We prefer to sell these tables as a set which includes the Rose Quartz Bench, as it was designed as an Exclusive set.

It started off when I (Steve Fink) found out from a geologist friend about a gold mining operation in Brazil where they were blowing up large hunks of high-grade rose quartz to get to the gold. We paid the mining company to cease work in that area for a month. During this time we used a helicopter to bring in a large rock drop saw and started cutting slabs. We ended up with less than a metric ton of nice slabs out of a whole hillside of rose quartz. It fractures very easily, so there was 97% waste. Then we went to one of Brazil’s top polishers to have them polished. Great care was taken in order to leave the saw marks on the rocks for added authenticity. Next came the importing into the U.S. Six months later they were safely in our possession.

Once here, we started looking at what to do with them. Prairie Prince, our designer came up with the rose quartz table concept. Prairie came and shot many pictures of roses and leaves from the rose garden in our yard in Petaluma, CA. We then went to his cousins Danny and Morgan Raimond, who are both metal sculptors who have trained in several places around the world. Slowly, but surely, the designs came into shape. Once the engineering and metal work was finished, we acid dipped them to insure no rust can occur beneath the paint. Then Prairie started working his magic with the paint, while I spent several months trying different types of lighting to not only get the colors right, but to make sure they would last for long periods of time and there was no heat buildup. Finally, with the help of Ray Keck, I settled on neon and Ray went to work bending glass. In less than 2 months, we had the lighting worked out and installed in the tables. This whole process took almost 21 months.
